Since 1992, Kalo Holdings Corporation has made a dynamic contribution to the economic transformation of Uzbekistan. When Uzbekistan became independent in 1991, Kalo Holdings immediately recognised its vast potential with a huge demand for industrial investment, technology, expertise, services and consumer goods.
Kalo Holdings Corporation has pioneered the establishment of new factories and joint venture corporations in Tashkent to service the tremendous opportunities available in Uzbekistan. Since 1993, Kalo Holdings Corporation has invested US$72 Million in Uzbekistan on various projects. Stroyservice Company is a Joint Venture Company between Kalo Holdings Corporation; the Government of Uzbekistan, (Tashkentstroy), Tashjilinvestroy, the leading construction company in Uzbekistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Stroyservice, which benefits from Kalo Holdings Corporation and Tashjilinvestroy's long history in international architectural and engineering experience, has four-purpose built factory production facilities for bricks, roof tiles, concrete pre-fabricated blocks and polystyrene insulation and represents the largest of its kind in the country. Stroyservice Co. generates annual turnover of US$10 Million and has 200 employees.
OEMZ, wholly owned by Kalo Holdings Corporation, has three-purpose built factories for the production of aluminium extrusions, aluminium doors and windows as well as false ceilings. OEMZ generates US$5 Million in annual turnover and has 100 employees. Diplomatic Villas & Karira, an organisation dissolved in 2000, undertook the development of luxury villas for resale.
In addition to setting up these organisations, Kalo Holdings Corporation secured exclusive distributorship rights to import products from many well-established and leading brands of electronics, building materials, sanitary ware and other commercial products including Sony, Samsung, Roca, York, Armstrong, Unilever, Phillip Morris and Seagram of Canada.
Kalo Holdings Corporation mainstream business effort concentrates on the developing, owning, selling, constructing, furnishing, refurbishing and operating buildings of any description ranging from residential, industrial and shopping centres to hotels, motels, taverns, night clubs and restaurants. Kalo Holdings also employs, trains and contracts the services of directors, executives, and professional staff and personnel of all calibre.
Kalo Holdings Corporation's versatility and knowledge of international finance has been further brought to bear in establishing joint venture partnerships with Hamed Baki Company for Trading and Industry (Sal), a major construction company based in Lebanon; and T.S. Khayat Group which includes the largest Publishing House in the Arab World and one of the world leading cartographic publishers, GEOprojects UK, a consistent winner of the British Cartographic Society's highest awards.
